Update: Linda and I are going to be grandparents in the Sep/Oct time frame, depending Annie and the doctor! Our daughter, Annie, is pregnant with twin boys. So she and Jason are going from zero to two that quick. So far her pregnancy has gone pretty smooth with no complications. Keep them in your prayers.

I really had 2 jobs in the last 40+ years. I served in the US Army for 21 years and over 18 years with McDonnell-Douglas/Boeing. For the past 5 years I have doing a little consulting work on the side. My Army career took me me overseas and around the US. I had the opportunity to work on two major helicopter programs starting on them from the beginning to production. There was an assignment as an associate professor at the US Military Academy at West Point. The capstone assignment was on the Army staff in Washington DC.
My time in industry has been involved in advanced systems development for the 18+ years.

In February we went on a Panama Canal cruise, the full transit: San Diego to Ft. Lauderdale, with friends from Chicago. There were stops in Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rico and Columbia. I posted several photos of the canal transit. The canal has been in operation for 100+ year! a phenomenal piece of engineering given the bumpy start.

What's the farthest you've been from home?

Viet Nam (outside of Saigon); Germany (Heidelberg, Pirmasens, Bavaria); Hungry (Budapest); Austria (Salzberg, Vienna)

Getting ready to head back to Germany this fall albeit with a slightly larger group of 30. Love the itinerary because we will be staying in the middle of these towns. The best part will be when we go deep into Bavaria and be staying at the base of the Germany alps. We start in Berlin and end in Munich in time for the end of the Oktoberfest.

My Boys! The grand-babies are growing quickly. Here they are at 9 months at Home Depot with Jason, their dad! Thank you all for the birthday wishes. It has been six months since Linda passed away, but I have staying busy first with the grandchildren.
Also at church I am on the Ageless Generation Ministry Action Team planning monthly events. I am also organizing a tour to the Reformation sites in Germany in the fall of 2018 (will miss the big 500th anniversary - avoid the crowds) this fall.
Another interesting adventure had me involved in planning of a forum addressing PTSD and Suicide Prevention for Veterans and First Responders.where we had a cross-section of mental health professionals, police/EMS/fire reps, VA and military medical and had over 100 participants.

Almost too busy! But must drive on. Will miss the 55th Reunion due to oversea travel. best to all of the class of 1962!

2016 was a good year and a not-so-good year. On August 24 my daughter gave birth to twin boys, Isaac and Benjamin. It took us awhile before we finally became grandparents. linda was so excited when Annie called to tell us that she was pregnant with twins. They were about 6-8 weeks premature but were quite healthy considering the early delivery. both were in the NICU for awhile. Isaac was there for a month and Ben for almost 2 months, but they are home doing very well.
The downside of 2016 was that Linda's health began to decline mid-year, slowly at first but by September/October it began to accelerate. She was needing 24/7 care. she underwent numerous tests and scans that did not give any clue as to the cause. It wasn't until she had a series of seizures, a grand mal in the ER. Then found that cancer has metastasized to the brain in about 2 weeks after the last series of tests. She went to heaven the day before her 70th birthday. We were married just over 40 years! So my wife, friend and sole-mate is finally at peace with her Lord.

Christmas was different this year without her, but I now had my grandsons to dote on. They live about 10 miles from my home. So life will go on. I am planning some traveling. First trip will be a mission trip to Guatemala in May and little later to the UK to visit with a friend and some of the WWII airfields.
