"Charlie" was, as I recall, a VERY quiet, introverted guy, who clearly was focused on his school work. Almost neighbors, our parents knew one another; We rode the same bus to LAHS whenever weather was too dicey for bike riding. So it turns out that we hardly knew one another. But oddly, we chatted more often while perched on a retaining wall near the student union at Berkeley than we ever did near home.  He was a sharp pre-engineering student who could suggest what to do with a math problem statement... After sophomore year, I left Berkeley; thereafter, we had no contact.

I dislike the idea of familiar faces fading/disappearing from my life; but after high school, in dozens of instances, I have only myself to criticise on that score!

For the record - A little secondary research shows that the Los Altos Town Crier published an obituary for Charlie, who died June 17th, 2010. I suspect he had a successful life; I hope it was a happy one!

Rest in peace, Charlie!

John thank you for posting some of what you remember about Charles/Charlie.  I look back on my school years with great gratitude and like you, wish I had gotten acquainted with many more of our classmates.

Thank you, John, for the information on Charlie.  We let 13 years go by before we knew of his passing, but it's nice that we do know for sure.  It's very sad to say a final goodbye to one if our Knights but good that we can bring up good memories to share.  Blessings to his family and friends.
