I recall sharing many classes with Susan, but if she and I spoke a half dozen words to one another over the years at LAHS I would be surprised. Looking at the saddening list of deceased peers makes me wish I had the maturity/character/confidence at that time to get to know more of these people, and Susan is certainly one of them. Her mother, who many will remember as a fine teacher of ours, once orally ripped strips off me in class. I richly deserved it, and never resented the incident. In fact my admiration for the lady increased, and some of that passed to her daughter who clearly was the recipient of a fine upbringing. Vale Susan, and Mrs. Allen.
Susan was a good friend of mine. Unfortunately, I had not seen her since high school. I was shocked to find out she had died. Her mother, Mrs Allen, was my debate and speech coach and one of my favorite teachers.
I was in Journalism with Mrs Allen. Susan and I met toward the end of the year and spent a lot of time together and over at the Allen's house. I too, was surprised that she was not with us and no information about marriage, kids or her year of passing.
