I am sorry to hear Phil has moved on.  I just read his bio; what a life and what a passion!  I envy his living the our beautiful mountains for so many years.   I hope the beauty of where he lived and his productive life will ease the emptiness his family and friends must feel.  I am sorry I didn't know him while we were classmates.

Yesterday I was just looking at Phil's work on some cards he was selling at SPD, our local market in Nevada City.  I did not know he had past just 9 days before.  We both love Nevada County and its many environs. And we both loved the Yuba River.  Outside Magazine named us this past year as one of the top 10 River Towns in the US.  It has been the suject and inspiration of many of my photographs. and Phil's work was very well know here and outside of Nevada County.  My wife, Merry, and I moved here in 1977 and Phil and Barbara were already here.  I found out Phil was here when we went into Barbaras clothing store, "Scotch Broom", a wonderful closthing store for women.  He will be greatly missed in our community as one of the leading Artists and a wonderful person.

One of my fondest memories of Phil was riding home from Stanford, having just completed the CAT, in an old car he called Esmerelda.  The divided windshield had a long crack on the driver's side which he acknowledged with a bandaid.  My condolences to Phil's family and friends.  He will be missed.
