I read Shirer way back when and loved how he got so much into one book -- a huge book, but still just a large paperback. It's an exciting read, not typically dull history. Like reading Will and Ariel Durant rather than standard world histories (hint, hint). Makes you wonder if it all could have been avoided too -- if they'd stopped Schicklgruber before he got fully started. Perhaps a parallel with Putin today? Probably not . . . |
