Return to Camelot Reunion

Our first mailing was designed to get an assessment of interest for planning purposes.
Since then over 300 alumni and faculty have replied to say they are Saving the Date!
This mailing is your Official Invitation.  We need your reply by April 23.

Join Arch – Mage Dude Angius and his Lady Barbara for a Tournament of Good Fellowship and Shared Memories with fellow Knights and Ladies, plus the Sorcerers and Sorceresses of the Faculty.

Who is invited: All faculty and alumni who served or studied at Los Altos High School during Dude Angius’s tenure (1956-1975) plus spouses, partners, BFFs.   Dress for the event: casual picnic attire.

What will be provided:

  • a Bubbling Cauldron of Lady Barbara’s Spell-Binding Bean Dip
  • a Vat of Magical Guacamole
  • a Plethora of Tortilla Chips, and other finger-food snacks
  • Beer, Wine, soft drinks

We will be in the large group picnic area.  Look for the reception table for your name tag(s).  Feel free to bring your own picnic and picnic supplies. Blackberry Farm has tables and charcoal grills. (No personal barbecues, lighter fluid, propane, or butane are allowed.) The area is handicapped-accessible with plenty of parking. Part of the area is shaded, but be prepared for sunny warm May weather. Bring hats, sunglasses, parasols. Please be advised that smoking of any kind is not permitted in the park.  And except for service animals, pets are not allowed in picnic areas.

If you have any LAHS memorabilia from When Knighthood Was in Flower, please bring to share!

Please RSVP ASAP but by April 23 at the latest, even if you replied to the “Save-the-Date” survey earlier.   To indicate that you WILL attend, look for how to reply to the invitation at the very bottom of this page – below all the details of this event. ****************************************************************************
Alert on Dude Angius’s physical challenges
He is legally blind due to macular degeneration.  He has only limited peripheral vision in the left eye (cannot see anything head-on), and can see only cloudy shapes with his right eye.  He’d like you to identify yourself when you greet him.  He does quite well by relying on voice recognition (he has a fantastic memory) and body language.

He has an autoimmune disorder (myasthenia gravis) which interferes with nerve impulses to all the voluntary muscles of his body.  As a result he cannot walk without support, and has difficulty speaking, swallowing, and breathing.  These activities tire him quickly.  MG is not curable, but is treatable and controllable.  He receives regular speech, inhalation, and physical therapy and is confident he will be much improved by next year.  There’s nothing wrong with his hearing, his wits are smart, and he will enjoy your conversation.  Dude would like to video-record his conversations at this event, view the videos later at home (with his peripheral vision), and respond to you by email.

Want to help out?
If you live locally and can bring an ice chest complete with ice, we can use more chilling space for soft drinks.  We will also welcome assistance with set-up and clean-up, and at the reception/nametag table.  If you can help in either of these ways, please let us know at CamelotGrads@gmail.com

Coming from out of town? Here’s some info for you:
Other events this weekend in Los Altos:

  • Los Altos Pet Parade – 10:00 AM – Main Street, Los Altos
  • Rotary Art Show and Sale – Lincoln Park, Los Altos. (Across Foothill Expressway from First and Main Streets.)

Hotels: (Check for availability)
Hotels in and near Los Altos range from the new ultra-luxe Enchanté Boutique Hotel on Main Street at San Antonio in Los Altos to the dowdy but clean Holiday Inn Express on El Camino Real between El Monte and Shoreline.  There is a Marriott Courtyard just north of San Antonio on El Camino, and a Residence Inn at El Monte on El Camino.  And several classes have had good results using Dinah’s Garden Hotel on El Camino and the Crown Plaza Cabaña across the street for travelers to reunions. If you search for hotels in Mountain View and Palo Alto you will have a wider selection. Palo Alto hotels tend to be pricier.
