Philip J Lerza Sept. 5, 1944 - Apr. 16, 2012 Resident of Foster City Beloved husband of Chris Lerza, father of Tracy Heiden (Mark) and Kelly Cassin (Jon), son of Laura Lerza, grandfather of Garrett and Lily Heiden and Will Cassin, brother of Margot Coe (Fred) and uncle and brother-in-law to many. He was preceded in death by his father Dolph. Phil was born in San Francisco and graduated from Los Altos High School. He served in the US Navy in Adak, Alaska where he found his way into broadcasting via Armed Forces Radio. Phil started to work for 610 KFRC in 1969 and stayed with it through its current group of stations today. Phil was an inspiration and friend to hundreds in the broadcasting radio industry. He always said "his job was his hobby." In 2009 he was the first broadcast engineer to be inducted into the Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame and was considered by many to be the one of the best engineers in radio. Phil enjoyed flying, boating with friends and neighbors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was always quick with a funny gag and a big smile. He will be tremendously missed.

hi philip,  we attended hillview and covington also lahs.  my most memorable memory of you has to do with you and someone else buzzing the school with a plane you boys borrowed from the pa airport.  it was 1960 and space was the thing.  it was so totally kool.  i am sure you are flying whenever you desire now.....pamela brummett mcpherson
